82° TECH is working with our local colleges and universities to promote their internship programs. Internships are a great way for students to get some real world experience in their field of study and a great way for our local businesses to share their expertise with the technology leaders of the future. Below are the institutions we are working with. Please think about these students as you are planning your projects and creating your budgets.

The Information Technology Department at the University of South Florida, Sarasota-Manatee campus, is known for its emphasis on a rigorous curriculum, addressing fundamentals, and the latest emerging technologies. The IT department is committed to fulfill the needs of distant/commuting and local students by judiciously implementing online courses, extending the physical classroom experience to the virtual class, yet maintaining the highly interactive nature of the face-to-face familiarity. The department values academic excellence and professionalism. Its faculty is devoted to a life-long learning ethic and cultural diversity among its students, staff, and faculty.

State College of Florida offers an Associate’s Degree in Computer Information Administrator with three tracks:
1. Computer Information Technology: microcomputer hardware support specialist, consultant or trainer, hardware or software salesperson, or technical support specialist, Web master, Web designer;
2. Computer Programming and Analysis: entry level programmer, programming specialist, program analyst, system analyst trainee;
3. Network Administration and Security: network technician, network manager, network analyst, network engineer, network administrator, security specialist, telecommunication specialist, network support technician, Cisco field-support technician.
SCF students and graduates are equipped for a wide variety of entry-level internships and positions for any sized local company.

Community College Week (http://www.ccweek.com/) ranked Keiser University (4) fourth in the nation among the Top 100 Four-Year Computer and Information Sciences Associate Degree Producers of 2009.
Keiser University - Sarasota offers an Associate’s Degree in Information Technology that focuses on entry-level positions in the field of network engineering with an emphasis on security support. Additionally, courses prepare students to sit for a wide variety of industry-established certifications.
Keiser students acquire the skills necessary to troubleshoot both hardware and software in a networked and stand-alone environment. They train on industry leading software such as:
- Microsoft Server 2003 and 2008
- Linux operating systems
- Desktop operating systems Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7
- Cisco routers, switches, and wireless devices
Additionally, students are trained in:
- Simple and complex network infrastructure
- Active Directory implementation, design, and security
- Desktop support and troubleshooting for a wide variety of Office applications
